Happy New Year! The holidays have come and gone, and so has half of another school year. With that, some of you may start thinking about options for your child’s education next year. Maybe you have a preschooler, and it’s time to decide where he will attend elementary school. Or, possibly, you have a child going into middle school and feel like it’s time for a change. Our Annual Education Issue and Private School Guide is here to help this month!
Though the reasons vary, many parents consider a private education for their kids at one time or another. We are blessed with many exceptional private schools in the River Region, but sorting through them and narrowing down your search can be challenging. Our 2023 Private School Directory will get you started with the details you need to eliminate some and put others on your shortlist. Next, make sure to plan a visit to those schools to get the authentic feel of the campus and determine if it’s a good fit for your child. Many schools advertising in this month’s issue are preparing for their annual open houses, so it’s the perfect time to go and see things up close for yourself. Also, Heidi Smith Luedtke’s feature, 3 Steps to Choosing the Best School for Your Child, will help you determine what matters most to your family before you start your search.
In keeping with our education theme, Charline Barger has contributed a helpful article for those of you with high school juniors and seniors. Applying to colleges can be daunting for students and parents, so check out College Admissions 101 to find out all you need to know about the college application process.
Finally, what January issue would be complete without touching on the new year and changes we hope to make healthwise? Pam Molnar’s feature, Make Your Health a Priority in 2023, discusses how to move towards a more fit body and mind this year, plus 7 Must-Have Apps for a Healthier 2023.
All of us at River Region Parents wish you a Happy New Year! We look forward to walking alongside you this year in your parenting journey.
