Congratulations to G.W. Carver Highschool Student

Alabama Christian Academy recently hosted a vibrant and energetic Girls Basketball Camp, drawing over 30 young athletes ready to sharpen their skills on the court. Throughout the week, campers worked hard on fundamentals like dribbling, passing, shooting, and defensive techniques, all while building teamwork and confidence.
Led by ACA coaches and players, the camp focused on both individual improvement and fostering a love for the game. It was a great opportunity for these future Eagles to grow in their abilities, encourage one another, and have fun in a positive, uplifting environment.
We’re proud of the effort and energy each camper brought—and we can’t wait to see them back on the court soon!

Macon East Represents at Boys State

Patrick Ernest joined Macon East Academy just last year as a junior and has already made a major impact! He’s a proud member of the Macon East Knights baseball team, serves as SGA Treasurer, and was this year’s representative at Alabama Boys State —a prestigious program focused on leadership and civic engagement.
In Patrick’s own words about his Boys State experience: “Where do I begin? I entered the trip unsure about spending a whole week learning about citizenship. But just a few hours in, I realized it was so much more. I quickly settled in and became fully engaged with the program. Throughout the week, I enjoyed hearing from several guest speakers, each an expert in their field. I learned a great deal about what it truly means to be an American citizen and the responsibilities of holding public office. I ran for a seat in the House of Representatives within my city and was elected along with eight others. Our sessions began on Wednesday, and I immediately began working on a bill to improve the conditions of Alabama’s ports. The bill was briefly paused on Thursday to allow a bill requested by our Governor, but on Friday, I had the opportunity to present it in the actual House chamber in Montgomery. It passed unanimously!!! I was incredibly proud of the hard work my team and I put into it. Touring Bryant-Denny Stadium on Thursday was another highlight of the trip—I loved being on the most beautiful campus in Alabama! I’m truly grateful for this unforgettable opportunity.”
Way to go, Patrick! Your hard work, leadership, and passion are an inspiration to us all.

Saint James Senior Luke Catchings Attends 88th Annual Boys State

Saint James School rising senior Luke Catchings recently participated in the 88th annual Alabama Boys State program held at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Hosted by the American Legion, this week-long program brings together more than 500 high school students from across the state to explore leadership, government, and civic responsibility.
Upon arrival, participants were assigned to mock cities, counties, and political parties. Luke was placed in Cook City 10, Lincoln County, and the Nationalist Party, where he was elected Vice Chairman of his political party and Circuit Clerk for his county.
“These roles gave me the opportunity to work closely with others, organize events, and help shape our group’s platform,” Luke shared. “It pushed me outside my comfort zone and helped me grow in ways I never expected.”
Each county was given a mock budget and real-world issues to tackle in just four hours, requiring collaboration and team decision-making. Beyond the mock government simulation, participants also took part in educational field trips. Highlights included a visit to the Alabama State Capitol, a tour of the National Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery, and a special visit to Montgomery Whitewater for those in the engineering interest group, where students met local engineers and explored the design and infrastructure of the new outdoor facility.
