Happy New Year, Pike Road community!
I hope you and your family enjoyed time for rest and reflection during the holiday season. As we begin a new year and a new semester, we are energized by the progress our students and staff have made and excited to continue building on that momentum together.
The start of a new year often inspires fresh goals and renewed focus, and I’d like to encourage our families to consider adding one or two that are focused on supporting their child’s learning. Start by setting aside a few minutes each day to read together. This shared time helps build literacy skills that can last a lifetime. Another simple yet powerful way you can support student success is by talking with your child about their school day. Ask what they are learning, what activities they are involved in, and how they are doing socially and academically. These conversations reinforce the value of education, strengthen family connections, and provide important insight into your child’s experiences. When students know their families are engaged and interested, it makes a meaningful difference in both confidence and achievement.
January is School Board Appreciation Month, and I am grateful for the dedicated individuals who serve our district with commitment and care. Not only do they give up numerous hours to help make (sometimes very difficult) decisions for our school system, they also find time to simply be present to show their support. You can usually spot at least one board member at any school activity, from sports and arts performances, to food drives and assemblies. Their leadership and vision help guide Pike Road Schools as we continue to grow and serve our community. Please join me in thanking our School Board members:
Board President: Ethan Taylor
Vice President: Jan Johnson
Members: Jennifer Gibbs and Jeff Dickey
I would also like to recognize our Teachers of the Year, who exemplify excellence, passion, and a deep commitment to students:
Pike Road Elementary: Dawn Ellis
Pike Road Intermediate: Toni Jones
Pike Road Junior High: Daralyn McColl
Pike Road High School: Zachary Warren
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together, we look forward to a successful and rewarding semester ahead as we continue striving for excellence.
