After 25 years in public education, God led Jamie Shelton into a new season—one that aligned perfectly with her calling and her heart. Drawn to Trinity Presbyterian School’s mission to glorify God through high-quality, college-preparatory education rooted in a biblical worldview, she felt an immediate sense of purpose. “This aligns with my love for the Lord and my love for children,” she says. “And it’s good for my soul.”
A proud Auburn University graduate, she holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in early childhood special education, along with certifications in Early Childhood Education and Instructional Leadership. Still, her journey into STEAM felt divinely orchestrated. She often reflects on Proverbs 16:9: “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
When the opportunity arose, she realized the potential was limitless. Her passion for hands-on, child-directed learning—first sparked through project-based experiences at Auburn Early Ed.—made STEAM a natural fit.
For Mrs. Shelton, teaching means more than loving students; it’s about igniting curiosity. She wishes more people understood that while technology is valuable, human connection remains essential. Group collaboration, problem-solving, and learning through storytelling are timeless skills that shape confident, capable learners.
This year, she set three goals—and has already made significant progress. She launched Trinity’s first Robotics Team, which competed in two Vex IQ tournaments this fall. She is also working to help create outdoor learning spaces that inspire scientific discovery. Mrs. Shelton continues exploring new technologies, preparing to introduce Spike Legos and Ozobots ahead of the school’s 2nd Annual TECHNO Night in March 2026.
Looking ahead, she imagines a peaceful chapter spent at the beach in a camper with her husband after their children graduate—but remains open to wherever the Lord leads next.
Jamie and her husband, Bruce Shelton, have been married for 26 years. Together, they have three children: Ellie, PJ, and Micaiah. Originally from Sylacauga, Alabama, she is proud to call Montgomery home.
